10-day literacy workshop starts at DIET, Leh

Jammu: A 10-day Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) workshop started at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, on Monday. “In the ten-day workshop, experts will give an overview on contextualised Vidya Pravesh, numeracy and experiential learning of FLN under the guidelines of NIPUN Bharat mission,” an official said. DIET principal Chetan Dorje assured that these ten-day workshops will be very productive for the FLN teachers from various zones of Leh district. Around 85 FLN Teachers were present during the inaugural session. OC

Trafficked Bihar woman rescued in Bandipora

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has rescued a woman trafficked from Bihar in the Union Territory’s Bandipora district, officials said on Monday. “Bandipora police rescued a lady victim of human trafficking belonging to Bihar, illegally sold to one person namely Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh s/o Nazir Ahmad r/o Banyari Ajas,” the district’s police said in a post on X. Cognisance has been taken under relevant sections of the law, it said. PTI

Kishtwar Police recover Rs 35K lost in online fraud

Jammu: Cybercrime Investigation Unit of Kishtwar Police solved a cybercrime case and recovered online defrauded funds totalling Rs 35,000. Kishtwar SSP Abdul Qayoom said a complaint was lodged by Tariq Hussain Tak reporting online fraudulent transactions of above said amount involving an online app. “Investigation revealed that the fund was transferred to various merchants. During the course of investigation, cybercrime investigation team, led by SI Amrinder Singh, recovered the defrauded funds of Rs 35000,” the SSP said. OC

Bootleggers arrested, 79 liquor bottles seized

Jammu: Kishtwar police arrested two bootleggers and the seized 79 bottles of illicit liquor. A police party from Kishtwar, led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed, acted upon information related to the sale of illicit liquor in Kuleed area. Upon raiding the suspected shop, 79 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered and arrests were made on the spot. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Rajinder Singh and Naveen Kumar. A case has been registered under Sections 48(a) and 48(f) of the Excise Act.
