Officials of the Motor Vehicle Department impounded 131 vehicles without high security registration plates (HSRP) during a day-long drive across Jammu division till Saturday evening.

The department seized 26 vehicles in Jammu district, 19 vehicles in Samba district, 21 in Udhampur, 21 in Kathua, 12 in Rajouri, 10 in Reasi, eight each in Kishtwar and Poonch, and a few vehicles in Doda district, said an official spokesperson.

The government had asked motorists to get HSRP affixed on their vehicles by June 15.
