The Rajouri District Development Commissioner (DDC) has suspended 15 health employees, including a doctor, and withheld their salaries till a pending inquiry for unauthorised absence.
One-day salary of three health employees posted in these centres under the National Health Mission (NHM) will also be deducted for unauthorised absence from duty.
Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, DDC, today paid a surprise visit to the District Tuberculosis Hospital and found 10 employees absent at 2.30 pm.
On his directions, after several complaints from the public, Mohammad Tanveer Khan, subdivisional magistrate, Thanamandi, checked the Primary Health Centre at Lah village at 10.40 am and found 10 employees absent.
“Surprise inspections were conducted to check the medical facilities being provided to patients and to ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff to attend the patients,” said Narinder Raina, District Information officer.
The DDC has also directed the Deputy Chief Medical Officer to hold a detailed inquiry and submit a report in both lapses. — OC
