19 DSPs posted in terror-hit areas to gather intel

To counter the growing menace of terrorism ahead of the announcement of the Assembly poll in Jammu and Kashmir, 19 DSPs have been posted in far-off areas of the UT, specifically in those which have become a hotbed of terrorism.
These 19 DSPs have been posted in different locations in eight districts of Jammu division that have witnessed a rise in violence by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The police officers will lead their respective team to specifically counter terrorism. The districts, where the DSPs have been posted, include Kishtwar, Reasi, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban and Poonch. All these regions have witnessed terror-related incidents and attacks on security forces in the recent past. The officers will focus on intelligence gathering from locals and keep an eye on possible routes of the terrorists after they enter India.
