2 deaths reported in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 7
Two persons died due to Covid and 620 tested positive for the virus on Sunday, taking the total caseload in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,087.
Both deaths were reported in Srinagar. The dead included a tailor from Kolkata. So far, 41 persons have died from coronavirus in J&K; 36 in Kashmir and five in Jammu. Officials said over 500 samples tested positive at the laboratory of Srinagar’s Chest Disease hospital, where nearly 4,000 tests were pending due to overstretched staff which is working non-stop since March. “In the UT of J&K, 620 new positive cases have been reported since our last update yesterday, which include 37 from Jammu and 583 from Kashmir. Also, two Covid-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir,” read the media bulletin on novel coronavirus.
Ninety patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals of J&K.
Srinagar district has reported 11 deaths, the highest in any district in J&K, followed by 7 in Baramulla, Anantnag five, Kulgam and Shopian four each, Jammu three, Budgam and Kupwara two each, Udhampur and Bandipora one each. Meanwhile, The number of positive cases in Ladakh Union Territory (UT) continued to rise as four more persons tested positive for coronavirus in the region on Sunday.
