Rajouri, April 15
On Tuesday more than 30 mortar shells landed in Khorinar village under the jurisdiction of Manjakot police station in Rajouri district and three families had a narrow escape.
Three houses belonging to Haji Mohd Rafiq, Mohd Shabir and Nazir Hussain were partially damaged.
The injured include Sania Kosar (10), daughter of Mohammad Shabir, and Haji Mohammad Rafiq (65).
“Immediately after information of injuries, both the injured were rescued in a police vehicle amid mortar shelling and were shifted to Medical College Hospital at Rajouri in an ambulance” said Manjoor Kohli, SHO.
He further said some goats were also injured and a joint team of the Police and Revenue Department is in the village to assess the losses.
Meanwhile, a bomb disposal team of the Army today defused a live mortar shell fired by the Pakistan army on the spot in the Qasim Nagar area in Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district.
