The death toll in the “wall collapse” at a gunfight site in Srinagar’s old city reached three as two more persons succumbed to their injuries on Sunday.
A 55-year-old man was among the two persons who died at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) today. “There were two deaths on Sunday. A 55-year-old man and a youth, in his twenties, died this morning,” Medical Superintendent, SMHS, Nazir Choudhary, said. “Both had burn injuries.”The two were identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, 25, of Nawa Kadal and Manzoor Ahmad Khan of Hawal Srinagar. Four civilians were injured on the evening of May 19 after a gunfight at Nawa Kadal ended with the killing of two militants, including Hizbul Mujahideen top commander Junaid Sehari. Several houses were damaged in the gunfight. While the police said the injuries were due to wall collapse, locals said these were from a blast.
