The police have arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in the production and distribution of illicit country-made liquor in South Kashmir’s Anantnag.

A police spokesperson said acting on a tip-off, a team of Anantnag police officers conducted a raid near Jadoo Point at Pazalpora, Bijbehara, leading to the seizure of approximately 950 litres of illicit liquor. The officials also recovered various equipment and materials used in the illegal production process.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Azad Singh and Suraj Chohan, hailing from Akola area in Maharashtra, they were currently residing in Pazalpora.

Further investigation has been initiated and a case has been registered at the Bijbehara police station. The police further highlighted their ‘unwavering dedication’ to enforcing excise laws and cracking down on illegal activities in the district.
