The J&K Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested five persons, including two militant associates of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), in north Kashmir’s Sopore sub-district.
A police spokesman said following a specific intelligence input the police along with security forces arrested three persons who were circulating threatening posters in the area.
They have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir, Sahil Nazir Mir, both from Brath-Kalan Sopore and Peerzada Mohammad Zahir of Check Brath, Sopore.
The trio were arrested at a naka near Sopore bus stand, the spokesman said.
“Initial investigation reveals that these individuals were involved in publishing and circulation of threatening posters of proscribed terror outfit LeT in the Sopore area,” he said.
In a similar incident, two over-ground workers (OWGs) of the LeT, namely Ulfat Basher Mir of Nowpora Jaggier and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat of Dar Pora Bomei, Sopore, were arrested at a naka on the Kupwara bypass crossing, the spokesman said.
He said two hand grenades were recovered from their possession.
Two separate cases have been registerted.
