Srinagar, February 16
The police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized contraband from their possession.
The police during searches at a check post at Padshahibagh Bubehar in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-0772 with two persons on board.
“Police officers during checking have been able to recover 54 kg of poppy husk from their possession,” the police said in a statement.
The arrested persons have been identified as Amir Fayaz Bhat of Katriteng and Faizan Ahmad Najar of Waghama village in Bijbehara.
“They have been arrested and shifted to the Bijbehara police station where they remain in custody,” it said.
Officers have also impounded the vehicle used in peddling of drugs.
Another drug peddler arrested by the police have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shalla of Tielbal Kashipora, Srinagar. Contraband has been recovered from his possession. — TNS
