3-yr jail for trespass, outraging modesty of girl

Three persons, accused in a case of trespass, attempt to kidnapping and outraging the modesty of a girl in 2010, were today convicted by the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Rajouri.
The three accused were sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000, two years’ imprisonment and also a fine of Rs 8,000 and one-year imprisonment under various Sections of the IPC.
The sentence awarded to the accused for the offences they had committed was not maximum as all three had minor children.
The accused were sent to the Central Jail in Jammu after their conviction.
Amit Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar, all residents of Dhanaka village in the Nowshera sub-district, on the night of November 1 in 2010 had trespassed a house in Chowki Handan village and attempted to abduct a girl and also outraged her modesty.
The accused failed to abduct the girl as an alarm was raised by the family and, later on their complaint, all three were booked under various Sections of the IPC (then RPC).
The trial of the case started in 2011 in the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge (PD&SJ). On the completion of the trial, Jaffar Hussain Beig, PD&SJ, today convicted all three accused.
