Rajouri, January 14

Inhabitants of Rajouri district faced power snapping for more than 24 hours at many places caused by incessant rain, heavy snow and thunderstorms.

Out of the 36 receiving station, including 33 KV & 11 KV, in Rajouri district, only 11 are functional due to heavy rains and frequent shutdown of 132 KVA line (due to overloading) from Barn, Jammu.

This was stated by Ashok Gupta, Executive Engineer, STD, Kalalkot, and Mohd Jamsheed , AEE (EM&RE) HQ. Mohd Nazir Sheik, Deputy Commissioner, today visited various power stations, including grid station at Thudi, from where power regulation is done and supervised the restoration work. The receiving stations affected include the ones at Prori, Koteranka, Budhal, Dhangir, Dhanwan, Kalakote, Sunderbani, Siot, Mrchola, Soulki, Moughla, Treru, Sialsui, Phla, Kangri, Beripattan, Jhulla, Nowshera, Rajal, Lam, Laroka, Rajal and Chowkihandan.

“Out of the 102 feeders, 35 are functioning, while restoration work for the remaining is in progress,” said Jamsheed, AEE.“Significant damages have been noticed, men and machinery were pressed into service. In Rajouri town, power has been restored today.
