Of the total 8,843 candidates appeared in the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Higher Secondary Part-II (Class XII), session annual, 2019 examination of winter zone of Jammu Division, 4,269 candidates, including 4,804 boys and 4,039 girls have qualified the exam. The overall pass percentage was 48 per cent in the BOSE exam, the result of which was declared this afternoon.

In Jammu Division, the three districts — Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar — completely fall under the winter zone, while a few of the areas in the districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua fall under the winter zone. The examination was held in 104 examination centres, which were established by BOSE.

Girls outclassed boys by clinching 17 out of top 30 positions in different streams. Neha Parihar of Green Model Higher Secondary School, Doda, topped in science stream by securing 97.2 per cent (486 marks out of 500).

Anand Gupta of Government Higher Secondary School (boys) Bhaderwah topped in commerce stream with 85.8 per cent (429 marks out of 500). In arts stream, Diya Mahajan of Government Higher Secondary School, Khaleni (Doda), secured first position with 94.4 per cent (472 marks out of 500). The pass percentage of girls was 49 per cent while the boys percentage was 48 per cent.

Total 681 candidates failed in the board exams while 3,893 students got re-appear. Prof Veena Pandita, Chairperson, JKBOSE, has expressed satisfaction over the time-bound declaration of result despite many challenges at the centres set up in the toughest terrains of the region.However, to facilitate the access of students to the result gazettes, the school education board apart from making available the result on its official website www.jkbose.ac.in and on www.indiaresults.com, an SMS facility has also been introduced. “The candidates avail SMS facility by sending the text message to 5676750 by typing jkbose10 followed by a space and then Roll No. e.g. As the mobile Internet services are snapped in J&K, students can get their results from their nearest JKBOSE office where the soft and hard copies of result gazettes have already been provided”, a BOSE official said.

“The result is also available in the offices of the DCs of the districts concerned for the convenience of the students and general public”, an official further said.
