Security forces gunned down four terrorists in two encounters in the past 24 hours in Jammu & Kashmir. While two belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba were neutralised in Shopian, two unidentified militants were killed in the Tral area of Awantipora district, officials said.
Besides killing the terrorists, the J&K Police have also arrested two militants belonging to The Resistance Front (TRF) backed by the Lashkar-e-Taiba in Srinagar, the officials said. Inspector General (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said, “Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were neutralised in the encounter in the Chowgam area of Shopian. One terrorist was involved in lobbing grenades and killing civilians. Another terrorist was a new recruit.”
According to the police, the encounter started in the wee hours of Saturday. They also confirmed that incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, was recovered. Another encounter broke out at Hardumir, Tral area of Awantipora district, in the second half of the day, police officials said.
“Two terrorists were killed in the Tral encounter. The slain militants have been identified as Nadeem Bhat and Rasool, alias Adil, an IED expert, affiliated with proscribed terror outfit AuGH. Two AK rifles were recovered from their possession. Both were involved in several terror incidents, including IED blast and lobbing grenades,” the police tweeted. — TNS
