Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said 52 non-locals have been issued domicile in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Responding to a question raised by MLA Shafi Ahmad Wani, Minister for Health and Education, Sakina Itoo, informed the House that no non-local resident has been issued a domicile certificate in Magam and Narbal areas of Budgam.

She informed that 18,921 domicile certificates have been issued in Narbal and 26,277 in Magam.

Itoo informed the domicile certificates were on “marriage basis.”

The J&K government notified the grant of domicile certificate rules in May 2020, allowing non-locals under different categories to register for domicile certificates in the Union Territory, which was barred before Article 370 was abrogated on August 5, 2019
