More than 7.22 lakh people have been registered as voters in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, which will go to polls in the third and final phase of the Assembly elections on October 1.

The Baramulla district comprises of seven Assembly constituencies — Sopore, Rafiabad, Uri, Baramulla, Wagoora-Kreeri, Gulmarg and Pattan.

According to an official statement, there are a total of 7,22,923 registered voters – 3,64,517 men, 3,58,394 women and 12 third gender voters. Of the seven Assembly constituencies in the district, Baramulla segment has the highest number of 1,26,321 registered electorates, comprising of 63,338 men, 62,978 women and five transgender voters.

The second highest number of voters has been registered in Rafiabad, where 1,13,011 people will cast their vote. Of these, 57,760 are men, 55,250 are women and one voter is registered as a transgender person.

The Sopore seat has 1,12,793 registered voters, of which 55,990 are men and 56,803 are women. No voter is registered under the third gender category in this constituency. Uri constituency has a total of 1,04,813 registered electorate — 53,872 men and 50,941 women.

A total of 1,03,161 people will cast their vote in Pattan segment. Of these, 51,251 are male voters, 51,908 are females and two are third gender voters. The Gulmarg Assembly constituency has a total of 90,376 voters — 45,524 men, 44,851 females and one third gender voter.

With 72,448 electorate, the Wagoora-Kreeri Assembly constituency has the least number of registered voters in the district. Of these, 36,782 voters are men, 35,663 are women and three are registered as transgender voters.

To ensure smooth and hassle-free experience for voters, the Election Commission has established 908 polling stations across the district. Besides, specialised polling stations — including pink polling stations, youth polling stations, manned polling stations for people with disabilities, green polling stations, unique polling stations and model polling stations — have been established across the district.

Baramulla segment also houses 158 polling stations, highest in the district. As many as 149 polling stations have been established in Rafiabad constituency.

Besides, 129 polling stations have been established across the Sopore constituency, 147 polling stations have been set up in Uri, 119 in Pattan and 108 in Gulmarg.
