7 drug peddlers arrested in Valley

A police spokesperson said the drug peddlers have been arrested in Srinagar, Budgam and Shopian districts.
In Srinagar, police said a team from Khanyar police station during routine patrolling in Bishambarnagar area intercepted two suspicious persons. During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Imran Ahmad Ganie, and Abid Hamid Nanda, both residents of Anantnag.
Police said a team from Nishat police station during checking at Sheikh Mohalla Brein arrested a drug peddler, Umar Farooq Shiekh and recovered 50 gms of charas like substance from his possession.
In Budgam, a police team from Beerwah police station at a checkpoint established at Lolipora village intercepted three suspicious persons. During their personal search, five sticks of charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing 49 grams, 368 grams of charas like substances in powder form and 14 strips of banned psychotropic medicines were recovered.
In Shopian, police along with CRPF during a search operation at Daramdoora Keegam village recovered two bags containing 16.7 kg charas from the house of Imtiyaz Ahmad Hurra.
Police said all drug peddlers have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
