To ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience for the large influx of devotees expected during the New Year, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) conducted a review meeting today to finalise necessary arrangements.

Convened under the directions of the Chairman, SMVDSB (Lieutenant Governor, J&K), the meeting was presided over by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of the board, and attended by senior officials, representatives of security agencies and other key stakeholders.

The CEO directed the authorities concerned to implement robust yatra management measures, including RFID card-based regulation and crowd management strategies to ease congestion, particularly at the bhawan area. Separate entry and exit routes will be established at the bhawan, supported by over 700 CCTV cameras to ensure round-the-clock surveillance and a secure environment for devotees.

He further emphasised that only pilgrims with valid RFID cards would be allowed to proceed with the yatra. To ensure strict compliance, he suggested deploying additional handheld scanners and sufficient staff to prevent any lapses.

Regular public announcements were also mandated to help decongest the track and ensure a steady flow of pilgrims. Stressing the importance of synergy among all stakeholders, the CEO called for enhanced disaster preparedness, directing officials to monitor vulnerable areas and conduct joint patrolling.

The CEO also issued instructions for smooth vehicle movement, improved sanitation, drinking water facilities and enhanced lighting along the track and in Katra. He highlighted the need to resolve traffic issues caused by unauthorised parking, proposing a special drive to tow such vehicles.

Security agencies presented a comprehensive action plan that includes drone surveillance, extensive CCTV monitoring and the deployment of additional security forces and quick response teams. A multi-tier security grid, comprising police and paramilitary forces, will be deployed to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the yatra.

The meeting concluded with clear directives to ensure a hassle-free pilgrimage experience for all devotees.
