74% students pass Class XI exams

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Secondary Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday announced the result of Class XI annual examinations for the Kashmir division.

A total of 49,749 had appeared in the Class XI exams in Kashmir that were held in October-November last year, out of which 36,956 passed.

An official of the JKBOSE said the total pass percentage was 74 per cent.

“The pass percentage of boy students has been recorded at 73 per cent, while the overall pass percentage of girl students is 76 per cent,” he said.

A total of 9,896 students secured distinction (75 per cent and above marks), 16,856 bagged first division (60 per cent and above marks) and 8,938 secured third division (48 per cent and above marks).

Giving further breakup, the officer said among boys 460 secured distinctions in the arts stream.

“As many as 365 students in commerce and 3,280 in science subject secured distinctions among the boys,” he added.

Similarly, among girls, 1,573 in arts, 324 in commerce and 3,894 in sciences subjects secured distinctions.

Nine subjects — English literature, Hindi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, travel tourism and hotel management, home sciences, electronics, bio-chemistry and public administration — recorded 100 per cent pass percentage.
