‘We have enough proof of loop holes’

The re-appear and failure of the candidates is enough proof of loopholes in the conduct of examination by the school management, earlier, wherein their sole purpose was to better their pass percentage to attract more admissions. The National Achievement Survey being conducted by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry at the elementary level should also be held at the secondary and higher secondary level in the schools to know the exact situation.

Pritam Singh, former principal

The overall pass percentage stood at 55 per cent with girls outshining boys with 55 per cent. The pass percentage of boys was 54 per cent. The school education board in 2019 had decided to conduct the board examination on the pattern of Class X and XII after the reports of paper leak in a school had came to the fore. Earlier, the role of BOSE was to provide only question papers to the respective schools (both government and private) while the invigilating staff was from the respective schools.

However, former heads of educational institutes have welcomed the move of the school education board to conduct the examination by deputing its staff as superintendents/deputy superintendents at examination centres. “When there was home examination system in Class XI, not even a single candidate failed by the schools but now, half of the candidates are getting re-appear in the board examination. More than 1,000 students did not qualify the exam”, Kulbushan, former principal of a government school said.

In Jammu Division, the 3 districts-Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar completely fall under the winter zone while a few areas in the districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua fall under the winter zone.
