8 persons detained for glorifying terrorism
The Srinagar Cyber Police has initiated legal action against the misuse of social media platforms for glorifying terrorism, radicalising youth and spreading anti-national propaganda online, according to officials.
A statement said during cyber surveillance and patrolling, eight individuals operating adverse social media handles were identified for posting content that promoted terrorism and extremist ideologies.
Following the investigations, they were detained for questioning. Security proceedings have been initiated against four person, who have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone, Zuhaib Zahoor, Abrar Mushtaq and Farhad Rasool.
Police said four juveniles involved in similar activities were counselled and handed over to their parents after proper counselling. They will remain under close surveillance.
According to statement, Cyber Police Srinagar is actively monitoring social media platforms to identify individuals engaged in spreading extremist content, inciting violence, or attempting to disrupt public order.
