80-yr-old woman dies in J&K

Srinagar/Jammu, June 20

Six Covid-19 positive patients died in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the toll to 81 in the Union Territory of J&K. Two persons died at SKIMS, two at the SMHS and one at the Chest Disease Hospital (CDH) in Srinagar. One person from the Jammu division fell prey to coronavirus.

With 154 fresh positive cases, the Covid count in J&K reached 5,834 on Saturday evening.

An 80-year-old woman from south Kashmir’s Kulgam died on Saturday at the SMHS. The woman was admitted to hospital on June 18 and her sample was taken the same day. Doctors said she had underlying chest and kidney-related ailments.

The second fatality was a 40-year-old woman from Srinagar who died at the CDH. An official said she had history of heart ailment and diabetes.

A 55-year-old woman from south Kashmir’s Pulwama who had tested positive for Covid-19 died at SKIMS. The woman was referred from the SMHS hospital on June 16.

A 65-year-old male from Kanihama Magam of Budgam district died at SKIMS, Soura. The cause of the death was given out as cardio-pulmonary arrest.

Srinagar district with 19 deaths has so far recorded the highest number of fatalities.

Meanwhile, over 10O cases were tested positive in Kashmir for cornonavirus on Saturday that included 14 men from the the CRPF.

Srinagar district recorded 28 positive cases, while Baramulla had 21 cases. The other cases were recorded from Budgam (20), Shopian (12), Pulwama (11), Kulgam (9), Kupwara (7), Anantnag (3), Bandipora (2) and Ganderbal (1).
