Actively engage with communities to address issues, Nadda tells BJP MLAs
Union Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda advised the party MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir to be good listeners to resolve public grievances as he joined the concluding session of the two-day MLA training workshop in Katra, a party spokesman said.
Speaking on the occasion, Nadda highlighted the importance of Karyakarta Nirman and urged MLAs to rise above the allure of political posts. Drawing from his own experience as an MLA and Leader of the Opposition, he stressed that “posts are transient, but the trust of the people is enduring.”
He advised legislators to proactively engage with communities through platforms like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Asha workers’ meetings, and parent-teacher interactions in government schools. Nadda further emphasised the need for MLAs to be “good listeners” to effectively resolve public grievances and regularly visit SC/ST communities to ensure inclusive development.
The second day of the BJP’s training workshop also witnessed presence of Union Minister Jitendra Singh and other senior leaders of the party. Nadda underscored the imperative for elected representatives to prioritise constituency development and maintain deep connections with people.
The day commenced with a welcome address by J&K BJP president Sat Sharma, followed by a session on “Panch Nishta and Panch Parivartan” (five commitments and five transformations) led by Shiv Prakash, BJP’s national joint general secretary (organization). Prant pracharak Rupesh Kumar delivered lecture on J&K’s contemporary socio-political landscape and its historical significance in India’s freedom struggle.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe conducted an interactive workshop on office management, public speaking, team-building and social etiquette, equipping MLAs with tools for effective governance and public engagement.
Earlier in the day, Nadda visited the Vaishno Devi shrine and paid obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum.
The CEO of the Shrine Board, Anshul Garg, briefed the BJP chief about the various initiatives undertaken by the Board, including the upcoming medical college being set up at Kakryal. The CEO highlighted the Board’s efforts to upgrade and expand the existing infrastructure with the aim of providing enhanced facilities and services to the ever-increasing number of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine.
