Admn restricts Chadar trekking to Shingra Camp

The District Magistrate, Leh, has ordered reopening the Chadar trek from today which had been suspended due to bad weather and snowfall.
The 45-day Chadar trek, which was started this season from January 7, had to be suspended for two days on January 13 and 14 following reports of unfavourable conditions.
The decision to resume the trekking was taken after the submission of a field assessment report by the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association which had proposed to the administration for resumption of the trek till Shingra Camp.
The District Magistrate has also ordered to restrict all stakeholders to ensure trekkers don’t venture beyond the specified point, the Shingra camp.
An official at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Leh, said 10 foreigners were a part of a fresh batch which left Leh today after resumption of the trek.
