Administrative Secretary, Cooperative Department, Babila Rakwal presided over a public outreach programme at Dradhu, in Bhaderwah of Doda district on Thursday.
During the ‘Public Darbar’, a myriad of issues ranging from infrastructure development to employment opportunities and government schemes were brought to light by speakers, including sarpanchs, PRI members and public representatives.
These encompassed demands for improved water supply, electricity, healthcare, educational facilities, road connectivity, and tourism initiatives.
Rakwal, acknowledging the pace of development under the present UT administration, emphasised the significant progress across all sectors in the district. She assured timely resolution of issues and grievances, highlighting the importance of completing projects within stipulated timeframes. Additionally, Rakwal pledged support for initiatives like road connectivity to boost tourism, completion of NABARD projects, and the establishment of receiving stations.
Rakwal directed officials to initiate the setup of small sports courts to encourage youth engagement in sports activities. Moreover, she urged the promotion of the ‘Home Stay’ concept to enhance tourism and livelihood opportunities in the area. Recognising the potential of the cooperative sector, Rakwal encouraged youth engagement and applauded women’s participation in self-help groups. The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to inclusive development through collaboration between authorities and the public. While speaking on the occasion, DDC councillor, West, Yudhveer Thakur highlighted various issues, demands, and grievances before the administrative secretary. The most important demand highlighted by the councillor was the car cable project, and road connectivity from Pul Doda to Pathankot and Chamba.
At the culmination of the public outreach programme, the Administrative Secretary convened a meeting with all officers and officials of departments concerned to ensure that the raised issues and grievances during the event are redressed on a priority basis.
