An advance batch of 33 polling parties comprising election officials, police personnel and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), was flagged off by Kishtwar District Election Officer Rajesh Kumar Shavan this morning to Marwah and Dachan areas from the District Election Office, Kishtwar.
In all, 21 polling parties left for Marwah and 12 for Warwan areas of Inderwal Assembly constituency of the district. Kishtwar is scheduled to go to the polls on September18 during the first phase of the Assembly elections.
Situated at an altitude of 12,500 feet above the mean sea level with challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions, the advance dispatch of polling parties is crucial for Marwah and Dachan having sole road access via Sinthan and Margantop.
The contingents of polling teams along with EVMs left amid adequate security in presence of concerned election officials.
Kishtwar DEO informed that under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, elaborate arrangements have been made for the safe transportation of polling teams and election material, including EVMs and VVPATs and allied equipment to the 429 polling stations.
“Adequate security measures, including deployment of CAPF and J&K Police personnel, have been put in place at polling stations and en route to polling stations for the security of the polling staff, EVMs and strong rooms,” he added.
He further added that rest of the polling parties will be dispatched on September 16 and 17 across the district ahead of the poll day as per the protocol and guidelines of EC.
