Minister for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana in an event organised in Udhampur to observe the 135th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar said Baba Saheb was the real crusader of equality.

Calling him the greatest Indian of 20th century, Rana highlighted the pivotal role played by Dr Ambedkar in framing Indian Constitution that guarantees justice, liberty and equality for all citizens in political, economic and social spheres.

“Dr Ambedkar’s efforts in drafting the Constitution laid the foundation for modern India and it is our collective responsibility not to forget his legacy,” he said.

He was speaking at an event organised by Ambedkar Welfare Organisation Trust in Udhampur to mark celebration of birthday anniversary of the legend.

Describing Ambedkar as a champion of social justice, the Minister said that the great visionary dedicated his life towards fighting caste discrimination and untouchability, becoming a voice of the marginalised and oppressed.
