AMU ex-prof delivers lecture on research methodology at CUK

Aligarh Muslim University’s (AMU) ex-professor of economics Masood Hassan delivered two extension lectures on “Research methodology” and “Challenges to Indian economy” at Central University of Kashmir on Tuesday.

In his first lecture, Prof Hassan advised the scholars to review literature thoroughly before forming a research plan. He suggested that the research scholars should critically evaluate the existing literature. He laid stress on gaining proficiency in learning quantitative techniques.

In his second lecture, Prof Hassan said people might have divergent views and opinions about the challenges faced by the Indian economy and while some may accept it, others might look the other way. Referring to the pre-Independence era, he said: “India contributed about one-third to the world GDP. And was thus, rightly, dubbed as the Golden Sparrow.”

“After Independence, India inherited a plundered and fractured economy and it lagged significantly on all major economic indicators. As time passed, the country made a huge progress on all fronts, yet the economy continues to be plagued by a number of challenges,” he said. —TNS
