Armed forces our backbone: L-G Sinha on Veterans’ Day
On the occasion of Veterans’ Day, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha paid tribute to ex-servicemen of the armed forces and attended a commemorative event presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Akhnoor.
“I bow my head in gratitude to all the veterans, valiant jawans, Veer Naris, and families of our armed forces’ brave-hearts. We will forever remain indebted to our veterans who have protected the nation from enemies and continue to contribute to the nation’s growth and development,” the L-G stated.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of armed forces personnel and their families, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the crucial role played by soldiers in ensuring the nation’s security and progress.
“Soldiers protecting the borders are the guarantee of security and development for the nation. It is the collective responsibility of society to take concrete measures for the welfare of soldiers and veterans,” he remarked.
The L-G further highlighted the significance of Akhnoor, noting that the region bears the indelible marks of the valour and courage of veterans. He also praised the 108-ft high monumental National Flag and the Akhnoor Heritage Museum, which were dedicated to the nation by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. These landmarks, he said, would inspire future generations and serve as constant reminders of the selfless devotion and sacrifices made by soldiers and their families for the country.
“A martyr’s house is a sacred temple. This feeling and respect should be present in the minds of every citizen. The administration and society can express their gratitude to those who sacrificed everything for the country by fulfilling their responsibilities and ensuring that they live a life of comfort and dignity,” L-G Sinha stated.
On this special occasion, the L-G Manoj Sinha paid homage to Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. A two-minute silence was also observed in honour of the martyrs of the armed forces.
