To help the nomadic communities of Gujjars and Bakerwals, the Army gave them solar lights and power banks under Operation Sadhbhavana. A total of 60 members of the nomadic communities benefitted from the event.

“The distribution of solar lights and power banks will enhance safety and security in the community, especially at night, by providing reliable lighting. This is particularly important for nomadic communities like Gujjar and Bakerwal who often live in remote areas with limited access to electricity,” Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, spokesperson of the Army, said.

He said that solar lights and power banks could be particularly useful, providing a reliable source of energy that could easily be transported and used in different locations. “Power banks will enable them to charge their mobile phones and stay connected with their families during their movement. The Indian Army plans to continue its efforts to support the nomadic community by exploring ways to address their needs and promote their welfare,” the spokesperson added.

He said that this gesture would strengthen the bond of friendship between Army and the less-privileged communities of Gujjars and Bakerwals.
