Indian Army holds veterinary aid camp in Rajouri
A veterinary aid camp was organised by the Indian Army at Rani village in Rajouri, where a team of doctors examined numerous livestock and other animals. The camp was attended by Col B Rajakumar, Officer Commanding, 30 Army Dog Unit, along with two Nursing Assistant Veterinaries from 1 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital (AFVH).
The camp was set up at Rani village to address the pressing needs of the region’s rural farming communities, where animals are vital to sustenance and livelihood. Rani village, being geographically isolated, has limited access to veterinary services, leaving many animals to suffer from untreated illnesses and injuries.
During the camp, 149 livestock owners brought their animals for examination and treatment. The animals were treated for common diseases and conditions such as infections, malnutrition and skin ailments. The total number of animals treated included 297 cattle, 314 buffalo, 1,245 sheep, 1,487 goats, 201 canines, one feline, 60 poultry and 40 equines. Supplements were also provided to the animals.
