Assembly poll 2024: Days of terrorism will return to Valley if NC-Cong alliance wins: Shah to youth
Jammu, September 7
Taking a dig at the Congress-National Conference alliance, Home Minister Amit Shah has claimed that their return to power would bring back the dark days of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and stop development.
At a workers rally on the second day of his visit to Jammu, Shah cautioned the youth of Kashmir to resist from giving power to the ‘dynastic parties’.
“I want to tell the youth of the Valley that you have given power to these people so many times. When terrorism came to Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah (NC chief) and his family went to England, and it was the youth who were killed. You should be aware that this stream of development will stop and terrorism will be back in Jammu and Kashmir if you vote for the NC-Congress alliance,” Shah said.
“The NC, Congress and the PDP say they want to bring the earlier set up again. This means that there will again be injustice with Jammu. The talks about autonomy created chaos and terrorism in J&K and killed 40,000 people. They say they will give autonomy to J&K. So, I want to make it clear that no power can think about autonomy anymore,” Shah said.
Shah was speaking at a workers rally in Jammu where 13 BJP candidates along with senior leaders of the party were also present.
“I want to make people aware about the divisive agenda of the NC and Congress, who are planning to bring back two flags in J&K. They want to restore Article 370 and snatch away the reservation of Gujjar, Paharis and Dalits. Rahul Gandhi must listen to me that you can do whatever, but we will not allow you to touch reservation in J&K,” the Home Minister said.
Shah said that the upcoming elections would be historic as these would be the first Assembly elections in J&K that are being held in the absence of two flags and two constitutions.
“The election is being held in the absence of the shadow of Article 370. We have seen a miracle during the Lok Sabha poll, when 58.46 per cent votes were cast. Earlier, J&K used to witness 10 per cent turnout and the central governments used to celebrate”.
Stating that statehood will be granted to J&K after polls, Shah said that Rahul Gandhi was misleading the public by demanding the same.
“Rahul often says that he will give statehood to J&K. I want to ask him and the NC as to how will they restore statehood? Everyone knows that it can only be restored by the Central Government,” Shah said.
“I have myself said in the Parliament that statehood will be restored in J&K after the election. When we have already assured about it, why are these people asking for it again. Rahul Gandhi is misleading people,” the minister said.
Shah urged the party workers to take at least three families along with them to the polling stations on the voting day.
