Administrator of the Auqaf Islamia Abdul Qayoom Dar handed over the cheque to District Magistrate Mohammed Nazir Sheikh in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sher Singh.

“The money provided by the Auqaf Islamia, Shahdra Sharif, is a contribution towards the District Disaster Relief Fund and will be utilised exclusively for the purchase of three ventilators for Government Medical College and Associated Hospital, Rajouri,” said Dar.

Dar’s wife Shammim Akhter has also contributed Rs 3.5 lakh from her personnel savings for the purchase of another ventilator.

Three persons have been tested positive for coronavirus in Rajouri while around 2,100 people have been enlisted for observation.

The GMC&AH has no ventilators in the intensive care unit because the oxygen plant has not been established yet.

“Four portable ventilators are available at the GMC&AH. Of them, two have been reserved for the Covid-19 emergency. The Financial Commissioner, health and medical education department, has issued necessary directions for the establishment of the oxygen plant in Rajouri,” said Dr Kuldeep Singh, GMC&AH principal.
