Awareness camp on dairy sector held in Udhampur
Mission Director, Dairy Development, Narinder Singh Bali, conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district on Tuesday. Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Sanjay Gupta and other officials concerned accompanied the Mission Director.
An awareness camp was organised at Chenani which was attended by members of SHGs, Pashu Sakhis, A-Help, Krishi Sakhi and farmers.
The beneficiary-oriented schemes were explained and all were motivated to avail benefits of government schemes to start their own ventures and generate employment for themselves and others.
Addressing the gathering, Mission Director, Diary Development, made the public aware about the importance of the dairy sector as a source of employment. He encouraged the farmers to start processing, branding and marketing of milk and milk products to increase their income. He assured the farmers about every possible help by the government for new entrepreneurs.
During the tour, Bali visited a farm in Champari village of a beneficiary who availed benefit under IDDS and HADP schemes. He interacted with the beneficiary and motivated him.
He also inspected several installations of the Animal Husbandry Department like Artificial Breeding Station Kallar, Disease Investigation Lab, District Veterinary Hospital and reviewed their working. Bali also visited the government hatchery at Kallar and reviewed the ongoing construction work.
Later, tablets were also distributed among Pashu Sakhis, A-Help, Krishi Sakhi workers who are performing ration balancing and milk recordings for uploading of the data on a regular basis.
Dr Suresh Kumar Thapa, Livestock Development Officer, Udhampur, and other staff of Animal Husbandry Department were also present on the occasion.
