Srinagar, November 29

Residents of many localities in Batamaloo Srinagar have complained that after the rains of the past two days, all lanes in the place have been submerged.

The lanes in the SD Colony, Firdousabad, are completely blocked as more than a foot of water has gathered there, forcing the residents to wear long boots.

“We have approached the authorities a number of times, but they did not pay any heed. Our houses are also in danger as the water has accumulated in our lawns as well,” said Muhammad Razaq, a resident.

“The administration has completely failed us and we have accepted it as our fate now and we do not complain anymore. We live in the main city, but we still do not have a drainage facility in the locality,” he said.

Officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation said immediately after the rainfall, they had set up water pumps in the city localities.
