Bharat Darshan tour

Manvendra, DIG, Sashasta Seema Bal (SSB), Jammu, on Sunday flaged off the Bharat Darshan tour on the theme “Vatan Ko Jano” for the students hailing from districts Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and Jammu. A total of 47 students were selected for the tour, wherein they will visit various places in different states. The tour will conclude on December 20, 2019.

Conference concludes at SMVDU

The fourth national conference on recent trends in mathematical sciences (NCRTMS) organised by School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, concluded here. It was organised in association with Indian Academy of Physical Sciences (IAPS). Prof (Dr) RK Sinha, SMVDU Vice-chancellor and Prof V K Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Sciencesm have congratulated the organising team for the successful organisation of the conference.

Debate competition

In an endeavour to channelise children of remote areas towards “Swachhata Pakhwada”, the Army organised a debate competition for students of Government Middle School (GMS), Khour, and Himalayan Public School and Institute of Education, Dharmari. The aim of the competition was to develop and motivate the students towards education, cleanliness, green environment and inculcating competitive spirit. The children and staff of the school opined that this gesture would go a long way in motivating and enhancing the interest level of the students in the school..

ABVP announces college unit

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday announced its unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur. Sangeeta was elected as college president while Madhu Bala as the college secretary. Other unit members were also announced. Addressing the students, Avinash Sethi threw light on the working and motive of the organisation. Rahul Sharma also motivated the students and urged the whole unit to work for the students welfare and for the rights of students.

JU students participate in SIC 2020

The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of University of Jammu (JU) will facilitate the participation of students of the varsity in the upcoming Smart India Hackathon (SIC) 2020 being organised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) innovation cell (MIC). The various themes under which the students can participate include – smart communication, health care and bio medical devices, agriculture and rural development, smart vehicles, food technology, robotics and drones, waste management, clean water, renewable energy, security and survillence and other sectors. Interested students are directed by JU to send their themes by January 25.

STC concludes at IIT-Jammu

A short term course (STC) titled “Tribology in machine elements: Fundamentals and recent advances” was concluded at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu. Dr GD Thakre, Principal Scientist at the Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR laboratory), Dehradun, focused on the R&D activities being carried out to develop advanced lubricants for the future. He also distributed the certificates to all participants during the valedictory session.
