The Congress stated that the BJP owes an explanation and apology instead of rousing religious sentiments and “vitiate the peaceful atmosphere to hide their own failures”.
Addressing a press conference, senior Congress leaders, including working president Raman Bhalla and chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, questioned BJP “for their failure to protect and safeguard the religious sentiments and rights of the Hindu community, while granting the necessary go ahead to the said institution”.
“Who stopped them from taking due care of the rights and religious sentiments of the people in the matter, as per law and norms,” questioned Sharma. He said that when there are safeguards for the minority community of J&K already available to some institutions in the region “the BJP should blame themselves only. They should also seek an apology from the people of Jammu and rest of the country, whom they are trying to provoke for their vested interests and hate politics”.
