Briefs: NIA court frames charges against 2 for terror funding

Srinagar: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Kashmir has framed charges in a terror funding case. A statement by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of J&K Police said charges have been framed against Shabir Ahmad Bhat and Javaid Ahmad. It said criminal proceedings have also been initiated against absconding Pak-based LeT handler Sumama alias Babar alias Ilyas, who is also an accused in the case. The case pertains to “criminal conspiracy orchestrated by handlers and commanders of Lashkar-e-Taiba from across the LoC, who, in close coordination with Pakistani nationals have been channelling terror funds into Jammu & Kashmir."

Hideout busted in Kishtwar

Jammu: Security forces on Thursday busted a hideout and recovered one AK-47 rifle and ammunition in Kishtwar district, officials said. The recovery was made from the Berighouth-Dugadda area in the Chatroo area during a routine search operation, they said. One AK-47, a magazine of the weapon, 30 rounds, including some Pak rounds, and a binocular were recovered, they said.
