CBI nabs official accepting bribe for DOB certificate
Srinagar, January 24
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested an official working in a hospital in North Kashmir in a bribery case. The CBI arrested the accused official who accepted the bribe from the complainant through online transaction.
In a statement here, the CBI said they arrested an official working in the sub-district hospital, Sopore, in a bribery case related to the issuance of a date of birth certificate (DOB).
“A case was registered on a complaint against the official working in the date of birth section of a Sub-District Hospital, Sopore (J&K), on the allegations of demanding bribe from the complainant for issuance of birth certificate in favour of his daughter,” the CBI said.
“It was alleged that the accused initially demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 which was reduced to Rs 3,600 after negotiation. The CBI caught the accused after he accepted a bribe of Rs 3,600 from the complainant through online transaction,” the CBI said. The accused was later produced before the Special Judge, CBI cases, Srinagar.
