The ‘Chhari-Mubarak’ (holy mace) rituals concluded today with ‘pooja’ and ‘visarjan’ ceremony at Pahalgam in south Kashmir.

“The anual pilgrimage of Chhari-Mubarak Swami Amarnath culminated at Pahalgam with its last rituals of ‘pujan’ and ‘visarjan’, which were performed on the banks of the Lidder river. Selected Sadhus participated in the pujan due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said custodian of the holy mace Mahant Deependra Giri.

Addressing a small gathering after the culmination ceremony, the mahant said: “As our country is called a land of diversity, people belonging to almost every faith can be found in India wherein many religions coexist. The annual pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath ji is unique as people from all walks of life in Jammu and Kashmir, belonging to different sects/religions, contribute to make it successful.”

Though the government had decided to call this year’s pilgrimage off due to sharp spike in Covid-19 positive cases, all ‘Chhari-Mubarak’ rituals were performed with religious fervour.
