During an interaction with a few students from different districts of Jammu Province, the aspirants said a majority of the promising students from the far-flung areas who despite having the potential/talent were not able to move to the winter capital to prepare for the competitive examination for various reasons.

“Today’s youth is aware of his/her career choices whether he lives in urban or rural areas. But when it comes to preparing for any competitive examination, a majority of the students from remote districts have no option but to shift to Jammu because there are no such institutes”, Heena Kousar, a civil services aspirant from Reasi district said

“Not every youth hailing from far off/hilly places is financially strong who can afford a long stay in Jammu. When one seeks admission in a coaching institute, it is imperative to stay on rent or as a paying guest near the institute and it costs a lot. For a student of a middle class/poor family it is difficult to afford. If there is one such coaching institute in his home town/district, the situation will be entirely different and he/she can easily join there”, said Mehmood Choudhary, an aspirant from Rajouri district.

“The youth from border areas in Jammu region too is facing similar problem. Of course, there are many tutorials for thestudents of Classes X and XII in all streams, but when it comes to competitive exams there is no full-fledged institute available there. As a result, most of the youth do not opt for coaching. A very few aspirants from the border areas move to Jammu to prepare for competitive exams”, Abhijayant Sharma from the RS Pura area, said.

“There is no dearth of talented youth in far-flung areas/districts who can crack the competitive exams, but non-availability of sufficient number of coaching institutes is the biggest stumbling block for them. We request the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir authorities to take measures to open coaching institutes in all districts of the Jammu region”, aspirants Vishal Bhagat and Madhavi from Jammu district said.
