Cold, cough in uneven weather conditions scares people

Amid Covid-19 threat, Jammu region witnessing frequent high and low weather temperature is a reason for increased feeling of misery among the already scared people.
The uneven fluctuation in temperature with sunshine followed by rain and cloudy overcast has started affecting people with cold and cough giving rise to various apprehensions.The most affected are children and the elderly whose immune system are generally weak and invite various kinds of flu-like conditions.
While the weather map of Jammu predicts rain and sunshine for another 10 days, this has set fear among the people amid Covid-19 threat.
Dr Arun Sharma, superintendent, Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu, said under such weather conditions flu-like issues generally crop up affecting those with weak immune system.
He also admitted that a person with weak immune system contracting flu becomes vulnerable to Covid-19 more than any other healthy person, but said for Covid-19 infection, there has to be a history of the disease.
“In case of common cold and cough, people do not need to rush to hospitals as the government has released doctors’ helpline numbers and get advice telephonically. Common flu die after its circle. The only way to keep secure is to remain tight at home only,” said Dr Arun Sharma.
As per the weather forecast for the next week , The MeT Department says that erratic conditions will prevail with some days being sunny and other cloudy along with rain.
“ There will be rain tonight and tomorrow it will be sunny. Later again rain is expected for two days followed by sunny weather,” said Sonam Lotus, Director MeT , J&K.
