Rajouri, April 13
Taking advantages of the lockdown, some people have been found encroaching the state and forest land in Rajouri district.
Official sources said several complaints had been received from different areas of the district about the encroachment of government land.
The areas from where the complaints have been received include Thudi, Jamola and other areas in Rajouri tehsil and from Khawas in Kotranka sub -district.
“On the one hand officials/ officers of the civil administration and the Police Department working 24X7 to fight against the Covid pandemic and for the safety of the people while on the other hand such people taking undue benefits of the restrictions for their vested interests”, said a senior official.
More than 50 per cent complaints have been verified by the Revenue and Forest Departments’ employees and were found to be genuine.
Taking serious note of the encroachment of the government land during the lockdown, directions have been issued for necessary action.
“The administration has received about 18 complaints of encroachment on state / forest land mostly from Rajouri tehsil. Passes have been issued to the employees of the department concerned to remove the encroachments and for action against the culprits” said Sher Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
