The Pradesh Congress Committee will intensify the movement for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir from Monday.

On March 21, Tariq Hameed Karra, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, had reviewed preparations for intensifying the movement for restoration of statehood in Jammu city.

The party would take out evening marches at different locations in a phased manner from March 24 to March 29.

Karra said they would highlight misgovernance of the PM Modi-led Centre and Lieutenant Governor, which resulted in hardships for the common people. With campaign titled “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq”, Karra said the Congress would continue its struggle for the statehood and highlight the issues faced by the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said during the review meeting for the event, speakers highlighted water crisis in the city and acute problems faced by the citizens. The party also supported regularisation of daily wagers.

In August 2019, the Centre had repealed Article 370 and 35 A of the Constitution and bifurcated the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs — J&K and Ladakh.
