Cops pay tribute to fallen heroes on Police Commemoration Day

The commemorations included wreath-laying ceremonies, parades and tributes to martyrs whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire the force. Across all districts, floral tributes were paid and two minutes of silence observed in memory of the fallen personnel. District heads read out the roll of honour of police officers from across the country who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the nation.
Gifts were distributed among the next of kin of the martyrs and interactive sessions were held to address their concerns. As part of the observance, J&K Police is also organising cultural and sports events under the Civic Action Programme in memory of the fallen heroes.
In Anantnag, the main function was held at District Police Lines (DPL), where DIG South Kashmir Range Javed Matoo (IPS) and SSP Anantnag Amrit Pal Singh (IPS) took the salute. The event was attended by DC Anantnag Fakhrudin Hamid (IAS), officers from the police, CRPF and civil administration, and families of martyrs.
In Shopian, SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS) led the commemoration parade at DPL, joined by officers from the police, CRPF and Army, as well as martyrs’ families who offered floral tributes.
In Pulwama, SSP Tanushree laid wreaths and took the salute at the parade. Officers from the CRPF, Army and civil society members also attended. On the occasion, she inaugurated the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Kabaddi Tournament to promote sportsmanship and commemorate police valour.
In Kulgam, the ceremony at DPL was attended by DC Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), SSP Inayat Ali Choudhary (IPS), senior police and CAPF officers and martyrs’ families.
In Awantipora, contingents of JKP performed Shok Shastra before wreath-laying at the Martyrs’ Memorial. In Budgam, SSP Nikhil Borkar led the ceremony attended by DC Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat and officers from CRPF and Home Guards. The event concluded with tributes and an interaction with the families of martyrs.
