Council chief visits monasteries in Karnataka, meets Tibetan leaders

LAHDC Leh chairman Tashi Gyalson concluded a two-day visit to Bylakuppe in Karnataka which included engagements with several Tibetan monastic institutions, monastic leaders, and Ladakhi students studying in the region.

He also interacted with representatives of various Tibetan organisations, reaffirming his support for the community’s spiritual and educational welfare. The visit commenced on December 29, with a reception at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

Bylakuppe has some of the biggest monasteries which are known for their grandeur.

“Gyalson had an audience with Khen Rinpoche and Kilkhang Rinpoche of Tashi Lhunpo, where discussions were held on the upcoming visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the monastery. The CEC also conducted a site visit to the monastery in preparation for the Dalai Lama’s visit,” an LAHDC official said.

Gyalson then visited Namdroling Monastery of the Nyingma tradition, where he met with the spiritual leaders and engaged in discussions regarding the monastery’s activities. He also met with Ladakhi monks studying there, addressing their concerns and assuring them of his commitment to addressing their grievances.

The CEC toured the monastic temples and held a discussion at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery with Khenzur Rinpoche, Kachen Lobzang Sherab, and Kachen Zotpa Rinpoche on issues related to the monks’ welfare, scholarships and other matters of significance.
