In some good news for the people of Jammu and Kashmir amidst COVID-19 gloom, the recovery rate in the union territory has climbed to over 66 per cent – six per cent increase in just five days.

However, the positive cases have also recorded a continuous increase in the past few days and stood at close to 23,000 on Wednesday.

On July 31, the recovery rate was 60.07 per cent which jumped to 66.50 per cent on Wednesday evening.

Out of the total 22,955 positive cases reported in the union territory so far, 15,244 have recovered and discharged from the hospitals.

At present, Jammu and Kashmir has 7,285 active cases, revealed the Health Department figures.

In the past one month – from July 5 to August 5 – about 10,000 infected persons have recovered from the infection. However, over 14,500 new cases have also been reported during this period.

The death rate has also risen rapidly as 294 persons have lost their battle against the deadly virus in the last one month.

A total of 426 patients have died in Jammu and Kashmir so far. Of this, 141 patients have died in Srinagar district alone, followed by 73 in Baramulla, 29 in Kulgam and 28 in Anantnag.
