A man from Kathua district lost Rs 1 lakh to cyber fraudsters, but managed to get back the amount due to timely intervention by the police.

Virinder Kumar of Basohli, had filed a complaint that he shared OTP displayed on his mobile to an unknown caller after which Rs 99,402 was debited from his account.

The police identified the route of the transaction and found that the amount was transferred to Augmont Gold Pvt Ltd, Mumbai. The matter was taken up with the company and the full amount which was transferred from the account was blocked and refunded to the victim’s account.

Further investigations into the matter are on.

Public were told not to share their bank and personal details and other credentials with any unknown person as it may lead to fraud.
