JAMMU, April 15

With the extension in lockdown, a likely delay in the already suspended process of evaluation of Class X and XII examinations by J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is worrying students as well as their parents.

Pertinently, the school education board had suspended evaluation process of Senior Secondary Examination (SSE) and Higher Secondary Part-II annual regular Summer Zone 2020 in April till further orders.

“In the present situation, we are totally confused. Firstly, the deadly virus has gripped the entire world and secondly, our results will be declared late, which is obvious from the extended lockdown,” Subash, a Class X student, said.

“Usually, the result of both classes is declared in April-May but this time it looks almost impossible, at least in April. Some exams are yet to be conducted for Class XII. Looking at the present situation, it is difficult to tell when will the results be declared,” Surbhi, another Class X student, rued.

“The biggest worry for us is filling the forms for various competitive examinations/ courses. Though the CBSE too is facing similar crisis, but once the central board declares results and online admission starts, it would become difficult for our children to apply because of delayed declaration of results,” Satnam Kumar, a parent, said.

Prof Veena Pandita, BOSE Chairperson, said “The evaluation of papers continues to be suspended till further orders”. When asked about any specific strategy put in place to resume evaluation, she replied “as of now there is no such strategy”.
