Delegation from Ladakh village presents list of demands to L-G
A delegation from Diggar village in Nubra, led by Nambardar Tsewang Dorjey, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig BD Mishra (retd) and discussed various issues related to the far-off region.
Tsewang Dorjay discussed the need to establish a cultural and tourism centre in the village to boost tourism activities and increase the footfall of tourists; improve telecommunication connectivity in the village; address the issue of providing potable drinking water through Jal Jeevan Mission; establish a public gathering centre where the villagers can converge and indulge in livelihood activities; animal treatment centre at the village for the treatment of cattle and livestock, particularly yaks.
The L-G asked officials of Tourism Department to prepare a detailed plan for the promotion of tourism in Diggar village, including homestays, tourism activities such as rock climbing, daily cultural activities and the inclusion of the village in the tourism circuit on the lines of Disket, Hunder and Turtuk so that the villagers can benefit and earn their livelihood from tourism activities.
